Teapot Course - 2 and a half days

£250

The course runs on Wednesday 4th and Thursday 5th September 2024 from 10am to 4.30pm, with a further half day on Friday September 27th for glazing from 10am to 12:30pm. Taught by Lindy Barletta.

The course will teach you how to make and assemble a teapot and additional accompanying cups and jugs, time permitting on the first day. In the course we aim to push your skills as a potter in a fun yet challenging manner. The course is suitable for improvers, intermediate and advanced makers. (Perhaps not complete beginners).

Day 1: (4th September) We will throw numerous bowls and parts of the teapot, trying different shapes and handle options.

Day 2: (5th September) Will consist of turning and constructing the teapot parts, forming a strainer, and adding the spout and handle. Consider decoration, slip sgraffito or carving.

Day 3: (27th September) This half day will consist of glazing your bisque fired teapots from the course.

Additional class information …

Making a teapot consists of five parts made at the same time; the bowl, spout, lid, knob and handle. We will look at a directory of different shapes and consider our shape and design. Please book all three sessions including the glaze session when booking. We will break for an hour lunch around midday, lunch will not be provided but we encourage you to bring a packed lunch or there are many local cafes/shops.

The course has a maximum of 6 people. The £250 includes tuition, equipment, practise clay (work not fired). Plus weigh and pay for fired work at £10 per kilo to include 2 firings and glaze. Participants must be available for all dates of the course.

For specialist courses we have a cancellation policy of up to one week before the course start date. A full refund will be issued, minus 10% taken as a handling fee. If you cancel less than one week before the course start date the course is non refundable. If you are unable to attend or miss a session whilst the course is ongoing this is non refundable.
